A big Nordic winter panel worked in just four DMC colors, a standing reindeer with branched antlers, a small perched folk bird, a row of fir trees along a snowy ground band, and two hanging Christmas ornaments, all set into an allover field of winter-white folk snowflakes with patterned fair-isle borders top and bottom.
- It is a statement-size piece that stays genuinely beginner-friendly: full crosses only, no backstitch, no fractional stitches, no French knots, and only four thread colors to keep track of across the whole chart.

- CHOOSING YOUR FABRIC The background is left unstitched, so your fabric color becomes the winter sky and it sits directly against every motif. The snowflakes and borders are 3865 Winter White, the reindeer and bird are turquoise, and 3799 Pewter Grey Very Dark is the darkest thread in the chart, so the fabric needs contrast at both ends of the value range:
- Best on a MID-TONE ground. The natural sand/tan shown in the photos gives the turquoise reindeer a warm-against-cool contrast; the blue-grey shown is a softer, cooler, more tonal look, because 597 Turquoise sits close to it in hue.
- Avoid white, ivory and cream: the white snowflakes would disappear into the fabric.
- Avoid black and charcoal: the darkest pewter-grey details would disappear instead.
