- 🪢 RECOMMENDED FABRIC Stitch it on a warm neutral
- tan, natural linen shade or oatmeal Aida
- which is what every photo here shows. The background is left unstitched, so the fabric colour is part of the finished picture.
- Two colours to avoid. Skip pure white, ivory and ecru: the gnome's beard and the mushroom cap spots are stitched in DMC ECRU and would disappear into the cloth. Skip black, navy and dark green too: the cat is carried by DMC 310 Black, 934 Black Avocado Green and 730 Olive Green Very Dark, and it loses its shape against a dark ground.
