An insect cross stitch pattern for a single stag beetle seen from above, drawn flat and clean like an enamel brooch or a specimen plate. The shell is deep crimson shaded from dark rosewood through red copper to burnt orange, with white glints along the wing cases. The antler-shaped mandibles, the legs and the antennae are picked out in golden yellow and tangerine, and the darkest shading is a near-black grape. The background is not stitched, so the beetle sits on bare fabric like a mounted specimen. This is the second of a four-bug set drawn in the same style, so they can be stitched as a matching row.

Good to know
