The chart is a band sampler in the Scandinavian folk tradition: eight-point star rosettes, heart and zigzag border bands, small firs and paired birds, all built from full crosses only. The bullfinches carry the colour, soft rose and apricot breasts against grey backs and wings, and the folk medallions hold the deep green and red.

- 🪢 CHOOSING YOUR FABRIC The background is not stitched, so the fabric colour is part of the design. The photographs show this same chart on light grey, on natural tan linen and on navy, and all three work. Please avoid white, ivory and cream: DMC 3865 Winter White draws the snowflakes and the snow resting on the branches, and on a pale ground those shapes disappear. A note on each of the three: on the light grey, DMC 318 Steel Grey Light is the birds' back and wing colour, so the backs sit deliberately soft; on the navy, DMC 3768 Grey Green Dark, the second darkest of its family, after 924, is the deepest thread in the chart, so the fir sprigs read quietly while the white snowflakes and the birds' breasts carry the piece; on the natural tan, DMC 3863 Mocha Beige Medium, the middle of the 3862-3863-3864 mocha family, is the shade closest to the linen itself, so the branches blend warmly. We have not stitched this design on black or charcoal, so those are untested.
- 🖼️ STITCHING IT AS NEEDLEPOINT The chart works on canvas as well as on Aida, one symbol is one stitch, worked as a tent stitch instead of a cross, with the same count and the same colour key. The background is charted unstitched, so it is yours to decide: let the ground show between the motifs, or fill it in with a background colour of your choice for a fully covered piece.

Nothing ships. After Etsy confirms payment, sign in at Etsy.com in a mobile or desktop browser, open Your account, choose Purchases, then choose Download Files beside this order. Etsy’s app does not show the download action.

This pattern is for personal use. You can stitch it for yourself and stitch it as a gift. Please do not resell, share, copy or redistribute the files, sell the chart as your own, or use it for mass production. The design and the chart stay the property of Stitch Jam Studio.
Good to know
You are buying a PDF chart, not a finished piece and not a kit. No fabric, floss or hoop is included. Colors on a screen can look different from real DMC floss. The preview shows how the finished piece could look. Your result depends on fabric count and floss. Files are in English. You need a PDF reader to open the charts. Free ones work fine.
